Piero Tellerías Melgarejo Visiting the International Political Sociology Node at Queen Mary University of London
Piero Tellerías Melgarejo is currently pursuing his PhD at the University of Paris 1 Pantheon-Sorbonne and lectures in Political Science at the Institut d'études politiques de Fontainebleau - UPEC.
His research is centered on examining the socio-political factors that facilitate or hinder the circulation of knowledge related to emergency, disaster, and crisis management. Presently, he is studying the Chilean case, particularly exploring its interactions with the United States, Japan, and the UN Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR). His doctoral thesis investigates the heuristic and hermeneutic application of concepts such as diffusion, transfer, translation, and fictionalization to analyze the circulation of the Community Emergency Response Team program between the United States and Chile.
He has also garnered experience as an international consultant for UNDRR, worked as an assistant researcher at the Chilean Centro de Investigación para la Gestión del Riesgo de Desastres, and served as a teaching assistant at the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. Currently, he is also a member of the editorial team for the journal Cultures & Conflits.
